WHAT'S IT LIKE ON A WALK?

A lovely stroll around your local neighbourhood with good company.

Is it for you?

Our walks are for all men aged 18 and over who are capable of walking unaided for up to an hour.

Each walk typically lasts from 45 minutes to one hour and takes place in a local park, green spot or along quieter streets where it's easier to chat.

We meet at a local point of interest, like the entrance to a train or tube station, cafe or football ground, and the lads will say hello and make you feel welcome. Then we set off. We walk at a pace that everyone is happy with, making sure we stop occasionally to let slower walkers catch up. In larger groups, we generally pair up naturally. Nobody walks alone.

What do we talk about?

On each walk, you'll hear quiet, warming chatter, friendly banter and laughs, but the difference with The Proper Blokes Club is our walks provide an opportunity for you to open up about anything that might be weighing on your mind, from an issue at home or work to health concerns and worries about money, kids and addiction. Anything.

We have a code of conduct to make sure all men feel included and comfortable. If anyone has a concern, they can raise it with the walk leader, who will act accordingly. It's important to note we are not counsellors. We are simply likeminded men. We are all in the same boat.

The important thing is that whatever you want to talk about, you won't be judged. If you don't want to say anything and you just want to walk with some fellow men and feel a sense of belonging, that's ok too. There's no pressure.

'It has given me purpose.'

It's quite normal to feel a little nervous the first time you approach your local group, but just saying hello and being welcomed into the group can be such a massive relief. At the end of your first walk, you'll probably think to yourself: 'Why didn't I do this before?'.
